St. Francis Opportunities for Service

St. Francis offers many opportunities to serve within the parish and also sponsors and supports activities outside the parish to serve others.

1. Opportunities within the parish
   
   
1. Acolytes -- Men and boys serve at the altar to assist in the Mass.
2. Altar Guild -- Women prepare the objects and accessories used in worship.
3. Choir -- Men and women sing praises during the main Mass every Sunday and for special holiday services.
4. Junior Choir -- Boys and girls sing highlights for special occasions.
5. Teachers -- Men and women teach in our Sunday Church School.
6. Telephone Committee -- Whenever there is a need to notify the parish of important news, members spread the word.
7. Austin St. Shelter -- Members and guests of the parish provide a meal for the homeless on the fourth Saturday of every month.
   • Some serve as cooks to prepare the meal.
   • Some go down to the shelter to serve the meal.
   • Some bring sandwiches to supplement the meal.
8. Visitors -- Members visit those who are ill, in hospital or at home.
9. Sunshine Committee Members -- Members provide meals and other help to the families of members who are ill.



2. Outside opportunities supported by the parish.



1. Members deliver Meals-On-Wheels to shut-ins several days each month.
2. Members support the North Dallas Shared Ministries to feed the poor.
